Paulo Bento names Portugal squad for Holland friendly

Portugal coach Paulo Bento has announced the Seleção squad for next week’s friendly international against the Netherlands in the Algarve. As has become habit, Bento has resisted the temptation to experiment, opting to go with a settled squad.

Despite his conservative approach, Bento insisted, “the squad is not closed,” going on to explain that his choices are based on a question of stability. “It’s natural that we want stability, especially as we have little time to work with the squad and these players know our style of play.”

The match takes place on Wednesday 14 August, in the Algarve stadium, kicking off at 8.30 pm, local time.
