Xabi Alonso to miss Confederations Cup

The Spain midfielder has been struggling with a groin problem this term and will not be able to travel with his team-mates to Brazil, while Benat & Javi Garcia also miss out
Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso will sit out Spain's Confederations Cup campaign due to injury.
The former Liverpool star has been struggling with a groin injury of late and sat out his club's final Liga games of the season due to the knock.

And he will not recover in time to represent his country in Brazil later this month, with coach Vicente del Bosque leaving him out of his final 23-man squad along with Benat of Betis and Manchester City's Javi Garcia.
