‘Benni has another season in him’

Benni McCarthy’s business manager insists the Orlando Pirates striker still has another season in him, but says nothing has been discussed with regards to a new contract.
The 36-year-old former Bafana Bafana striker, whose current deal with the Buccaneers expires at the end of June, saw precious little action during 2012/13 as injuries struck him down, but Rob Moore says McCarthy can play for another season at least.
“For sure, he has another season in him,” Moore tells KickOff.com. “But for now we have not had any discussions with Orlando Pirates over a new contract. I still need to speak to Benni as well in the next few days to see what he thinks.”
Meanwhile, Moore says there is nothing to report on Daylon Claasen, who spent time at German Bundesliga side Eintracht Braunschweig earlier this month.
“Daylon wasn’t on trial; he was at Braunschweig just to keep fit for in case he got called up to the Bafana Bafana squad,” he says. “Most of the clubs are in recess now so we will wait for when they get back before making a call on him.”
